Emergencies, innovation and transactional fundraising with Paul Amadi
The latest episode of Two Ps on a Pod features Paul Amadi, MBE, Chief Supporter Officer at the British Red Cross.
I was particularly pleased to get the chance to chat with Paul as it was a great opportunity to discuss how emergency fundraising can impact on an overall fundraising strategy – and also to get some ideas on how you can get those emergency donors to give again! The chart below shows just how successful the Red Cross has been at emergency fundraising. Take a look at the orange columns to see how they impact on the charity’s income (you’ll see that RG income is shown in blue and legacy income is green). The boxes detail the nature of any emergency appeals in each year.
As well as emergencies, we discuss the Red Cross approach to innovation, how Paul manages an increasingly demanding budget and learn about his views on transactional fundraising. We also get some great insights into the importance of understanding the needs of donors and why he is focusing more and more on high value donors as he pushes for growth in a very tight market.
