How to use Twitter to raise money
Creative
Everyone is ranting about the massive amount raised by Comic Relief. But behind the huge numbers is a great little idea by Peter Serafinowicz, who managed to raise over £5,000 on Red Nose Day with a combination of Twitter and Just Giving.
His idea was Twitter based vegetable pop star pun war.
All entries had to be tweeted and copied on to Peter’s Just Giving fundraising page with a £2 donation per entry. It was that simple.
A couple of the better entries included:
- Pak Choi Division
- Glen Campbellpepper
- Artichoke Garfunkel
- The Pea Gees
- Elvis Parsley
I’m sure you get the drift.
The game kicked off at lunchtime and continued until the winner was announced at about five the next morning – it was The Notorious V.E.G.
